Mission & Vision
ACT (Advocates for Community Transformation) is an inner-city justice ministry based in West Dallas. ACT’s mission is to intervene and seek justice on behalf of Dallas citizens who are oppressed by crime and urban blight through identifying, documenting evidence, and pursuing legal action against owners of crime-ridden, or abandoned, derelict properties.
By mobilizing volunteer legal talent, ACT seeks to support the ongoing efforts of the City of Dallas and community leaders to hold offending property owners accountable and bolster current efforts in eliminating crime and urban blight.
ACT’s vision is for Dallas citizens to experience the transforming presence of Jesus Christ through collaborative efforts to establish stable, safe environments, free from injustice and oppression.
We desire to facilitate opportunities for volunteer advocates and community members to pursue a greater quality of life in each of the neighborhoods we target, ensuring a better future for each community currently suffering from the oppression of crime and urban blight. We believe that Dallas residents have a right to live in neighborhoods free from such injustice, and that Christian service includes the pursuit of justice.
Our hope is that each identified crime-ridden or abandoned, derelict property is reclaimed for the neighborhoods ACT serves by bringing a sense of urgency to offending property owners to clean up their property themselves or be faced with legal action. It is ACT’s intent to go about this work in a way that fosters community development and, ultimately, establishes the Lord’s Kingdom.
